Le CERN a Ă©tĂ© fondĂ© aprĂšs la Seconde Guerre mondiale par une poignĂ©e de personnalitĂ©s politiques et de scientifiques europĂ©ens de premier plan, avec pour mission de ramener une recherche scientifique dâexcellence en Europe et de promouvoir une collaboration pacifique entre les nations. Aujourdâhui, le CERN comprend 23 Ătats membres et 11 Ătats membres associĂ©s, et rassemble une communautĂ© passionnĂ©e de plus de 17 000 personnes, reprĂ©sentant plus de 110 nationalitĂ©s diffĂ©rentes. La nature fondamentale de lâUnivers recelant encore de nombreux mystĂšres, le CERN se prĂ©pare Ă poursuivre son exploration.

Nous avons prĂ©parĂ© un programme riche et passionnant pour cĂ©lĂ©brer les contributions apportĂ©es par le CERN Ă la connaissance scientifique, Ă lâinnovation technologique et Ă la collaboration internationale tout au long des 70 derniĂšres annĂ©es, avec, en point dâorgue de ces cĂ©lĂ©brations, une cĂ©rĂ©monie officielle le 1er octobre. Il y en aura pour tous les goĂ»ts : confĂ©rences donnĂ©es par dâĂ©minents scientifiques, expositions prĂ©sentant le CERN et sa communautĂ©, et initiatives visant Ă promouvoir la science auprĂšs du public, organisĂ©es au CERN, dans les Ătats membres et les Ătats membres associĂ©s, et au-delĂ .

School of Science and Technology
The school can offer up to 15-20 research themes for many research areas for high-school students. The CERN@70 inserted activities include particle physics theoretical presentations + practical work ( 4h/day), summing up a period of 2 weeks. The lectures will explain basic facts about CERN experiments and high energy physics. Two Romanian affiliated CERN groups (LHCb and ALICE) will work masterclass-like exercises to cover the practical issues, and conduct research-type activities with the students. Visits in laboratories and small on-site experiments will also be possible.

CERN70 and Germany – Past-Present-Future
The official celebrations for CERN’s 70th birthday in Germany featuring public evening events, the official ceremony as well as an exhibition and workshops. Von Montag 2. bis Mittwoch 4.9.: Hands-on-Experimente rund um physikalische Konzepte mit pĂ€dagogischer Anleitung (auch fĂŒr Schulklassen), eine interaktive CERN-Ausstellung und am Dienstag als Highlight der aufblasbare Zeitreisetunnel « Urknall unterwegs »! Die Ausstellung ist an allen drei Veranstaltungstagen geöffnet. How does it feel to be a PhD student and witness a scientific revolution – the discovery of a new particle? What is the Higgs boson?  How was it possible that GDR scientists were allowed to travel to the West to conduct research in the middle of the Cold War? What is the point of all this expensive particle smashing? We invite you to a chat show by and with people who work or have worked at CERN â as student, graduate, researcher or Director-General. Anecdotes, memories and perspectives in a relaxed atmosphere, with the opportunity to chat with the guests afterwards. (Event will tak place in German) Wie fĂŒhlt es sich an, als Doktorand bei einer wissenschaftlichen Revolution dabei zu sein â der Entdeckung eines neuen Teilchens? Wie konnte es sein, dass DDR-Wissenschaftler mitten im Kalten Krieg zum Forschen in den Westen reisen durften? Was bringt uns eigentlich diese ganze teure Teilchenknallerei? Wir laden ein zum Talkabend von und mit Menschen, die am CERN arbeiten oder gearbeitet haben – ob als SchĂŒler, Studierende, Forschende oder Generaldirektoren.
