On 28 and 29 May 2024, the international conference “CERN–Ukraine 2024: Past – Present – Future” was held in Kyiv, attended by 93 people (most of whom participated online).
A total of 39 presentations were given in six sections by leading Ukrainian scientists involved in high-energy physics projects at CERN. The scientific institutions and universities represented included the National Scientific Centre “Kharkiv Physical and Technical Institute” of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Ukraine, the Institute of Applied Physics of NAS of Ukraine, the Institute for Scintillation Materials of NAS of Ukraine, the Institute for Nuclear Research of NAS of Ukraine, the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, the Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Bogolyubov Institute for Theoretical Physics, and the LLC Scientific and Production Enterprise LTU.
The CERN Director-General, Fabiola Gianotti, and the President of the NAS of Ukraine, Anatoly Zahorodnii, both gave a welcome speech. Joachim Mnich, CERN’s Director for Research and Computing, then gave a talk on CERN’s plans for the future.
At the end of the conference, a round table was held, dedicated to Ukraine’s participation in the European Strategy for Particle Physics.
