To mark CERN’s 70th anniversary, Swedish particle physicists have embarked on a three-week tour across the country, visiting nine locations. In the spring, the tour travelled south, stopping in Gothenburg, Lund and Malmö. In September, it headed north to Sundsvall, Umeå and Luleå.
Later this autumn, the tour will move east to Linköping, Växjö and Karlskrona. At each stop, students are given the opportunity to explore a specially curated CERN70 exhibition, showcasing the groundbreaking research conducted at CERN and the cutting-edge scientific instruments developed by Swedish universities and companies. Additionally, a lunchtime seminar introduces students to CERN’s programmes and career opportunities. In the evenings, the general public is invited to a lecture on CERN’s latest research. The primary goal of the tour is to inspire students from various disciplines and encourage greater Swedish participation at CERN.
